Wow! It’s November already. And this month is a GREAT month for writers!
First, the entire month is National Novel Writing Month, so sign up to write your very own novel within the next 30 days at www.nanowrimo.org and start cranking out the words today and every day for a whole month! Throughout the month you can get together with other writers in your region at local coffee shops, libraries, etc. and just write, write, write!
Next, to start the month off, today is National Author’s Day AND National Family Literacy Day!
Celebrate the day with a visit to your local bookstore and/or library. You just may discover that some special events are taking place to celebrate the day. Read YOUR favorite children’s book to your favorite child or children. It just might become their favorite book, too!

National Novel Writing Month Starts Sunday!

Happy Halloween!
As we head into November this weekend, I’ll begin writing my next novel. In fact, I’m taking part in NaNoWri.org with the goal of getting the first draft of my manuscript completed in just 30 days.
If you’re trying to write a novel, too, – and you don’t want to hire me to coach you through the process right now – you should sign up at www.nanowrimo.org. You’ll have the support of thousands of other writers who will be doing just what you’re doing next month – writing the first draft to a complete novel in just 30 days!
Once you sign up, don’t forget to join your region (you’ll see the link to “regions” at the website). You’ll find out where other writers in your area will be getting together to write during the month. Then, if you hang out and write at your local coffeeshop with other writers, you can’t help but FEEL like a REAL writer next month, even if you don’t manage to write 50,000 words (which is the goal for everyone).
