Manuscript Critique Service
Congratulations! You’ve written a short story or a complete book! That takes a lot of time and effort.
But now you may be afraid your manuscript won’t sell. It won’t attract the attention of an editor or agent.
And, unfortunately, that just might be the case.
So what do you do?
Well, that’s easy.
You have your manuscript professionally critiqued before you submit it to an editor or agent.
Why I’m the Person to Critique Your Manuscript
I’ve written over 30 published books. Most of these were published by traditional publishers. That means I’ve worked with a variety of editors from traditional publishing houses and I know what they look for in marketable manuscripts.
I also taught writing for children and teens for the Institute of Children’s Literature for over 8 years, and as an instructor I critiqued thousands of manuscripts to show students how to make their work more marketable.
I specialize in children’s books – picture books, easy readers, middle grade and YA novels, as well as children’s overall nonfiction.
But I also critique manuscripts written for adults.
How My Manuscript Critique Service Works
I want writers to feel comfortable sharing their manuscripts with me. With that in mind, as soon as you register for a manuscript critique by me, I email you with a confidentiality agreement. This assures you I will never share your work with anyone or use it for my own benefit.
Next, I have the you email me your manuscript. Once I receive it, I email back to set up a date and time (giving me a few days to critique the manuscript first) for a 30-minute phone call. During this call I go over my critique with you, answering any questions you might have about the critique or about your manuscript in general.
After this initial phone call, you can revise the manuscript (within 30 days) and have me look over the revision at no additional cost. However, if I feel the manuscript still needs work, I will refer you either to one of my coaching programs so I can help you on an ongoing basis or to an appropriate writing course.
Cost for a Manuscript Critique is $100.00.
For Picture Books – this includes a critique of the entire manuscript.
For longer works – this includes a critique of the first chapter and a synopsis of the rest of the manuscript.
What I Can Guarantee if You Have Me Critique Your Manuscript
I can’t guarantee your manuscript will be purchased by an editor or publisher, of course, but I can guarantee you will know and understand what you need to do in order to make your manuscript more marketable.
