How to Write a Middle Grade Novel — 2 Comments

  1. These are amazing tips!

I usually start an outline to see where I’m going, then begin my novel. I just write, and don’t worry about editing. If I get stuck, I’ll go back to my outline, adding more information if needed. When I’m done with the first draft, I’ll go back and clean it up, then show it to my editor.

I can definitely use some of your suggestions for getting to know my characters better, and what to do if I get completely stuck.

  2. Hi Suzanne,

These are great tips that sound like they may be applied to any novel. Two things really stood out for me – outlining – something I’ve never done – and keeping the climax near the end. Thanks for sharing.
