Working Writer’s Summer Bootcamp Schedule

I want everyone to begin writing as soon as possible, so tomorrow (Friday, May 22) I’ll be sending materials to everyone who is registered for bootcamp so they can review these materials next week before bootcamp officially begins on Monday, June 1st.

We’ll have 13 intensive, productive, and enjoyable weeks of bootcamp in 3 different tracks: Novel Writing Track, General Nonfiction Writing Track, and Writing for Children Track.

Here’s what the weekly schedule will look like for each track:

1. Monday Morning Teleclass – We’ll start each week with a 55-minute teleclass. These teleclasses will be recorded so bootcampers who cannot attend the LIVE classes can listen to the recordings any time each week. Each teleclass will focus on some aspect of writing (There will be three different teleclasses every Monday – one for each track since the writing needs for each track are different).

2. Weekly Assignment - For the first two weeks, the assignment will involve some prewriting and reading activities. After the first two weeks, bootcampers will write at least one chapter of their book each week. In additional, every bootcampers will be creating a book proposal they can submit to traditional publishers if they choose to go that route. We’ll also discuss self-publishing options.

3. End of the Week Group coaching call – Bootcampers will have the opportunity to have their weekly assignment evaluated during a 55-minute group coaching call at the end of each week. We’ll vary the times of these calls during the 13 weeks to offer both daytime and evening sessions.

4. Daily check-ins via listserv for the group – Bootcampers can also critique each other’s work during the week.

5. Additional Tips Sheets, Audio Files, and Other Resources – Uploaded to the files section for our group every week.
