Freelance Writing Success - What Does It Take?

contractAs I work with coaching clients and other writers who are striving to become successful freelancers, I realize something.

Beginning writers want assurance that what they are doing is going to pay off.

That they won’t be spending hours trying to create a successful writing career only to fail.

They actually want more than assurance of this. They want a guarantee.

Only then will many of these writers be willing to make a full and total commitment to their writing careers.

But the thing is, without this kind of commitment, success probably won’t happen.

And the only guarantee you will find is the one within yourself - your OWN guarantee that you will do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, to create a successful writing career.

So if you’re a writer who is striving to create a successful freelance writing career, don’t look for any guarantee from others.

Look for the guarantee within yourself.

YOU have the power to determine your fate.

Don’t give it away to others and then give up when they don’t provide the guarantee you are looking for.

Just keep writing and writing and submitting your work.

Tell yourself, “I guarantee I will succeed at this because I won’t give up.”

Try it!

Suzanne, wanting and doing have always been two different things. Young kids cry I want, I want, I want, and finally a parent will give in. As writers we need to get past the I want stage and cry out I will, I will, I will.

    Hi, Carma,

Yep. Wanting and doing are different. You have to be willing to “do” in order to get what you want.

Great point! Thanks for dropping by!

This is a really significant point. What’s the cliche…when the going gets tough, the tough get going. Otherwise I guess, one can sit on the side of the road and complain about the heat, play tic tac toe in the gravel, watch for lizards or aardvarks…don’t aardvarks have a tough hide for skin? The little train said..I think I can, I think I can… maybe this is thinking toooooo much. Point taken, in any case.
