comfort zoneFor the past several days I’ve been advising readers of The Morning Nudge to take a few chances.
To step out of their comfort zones.
To make a few scary changes that just might lead to bigger and better things.
Here’s a photo of me, stepping out of my comfort zone just a bit:
Last Friday night, during Open Mike Night at Coffee Break (a local coffeeshop), I got up and read my Rookie Reader Shoelaces to the crowd.
Now…keep in mind that all the other performers that night were musicians - with the exception of one other writer who read some of his poetry (poetry for adults, I might add).
It doesn’t look like much of a crowd from the photo. Does it?
But that’s because the audience chose the comfy padded chairs and sofas scattered throughout the room rather than sit in the straight chairs arranged for them. Oh, well…at least some people were safe in their comfort zones that evening. But I think everyone had a lot of fun.
