Get Ready to Earn $6,000 OR MORE per month as a Freelance Writer!

freelance writingHave you always dreamed of becoming a freelance writer?

Someone who works from the comfort of your own home and even lives in comfy pjs, or sweatpants and a t-shirt, most of the time instead of stuffy, uncomfortable business attire?

Ah...it IS a wonderful life.

I know from personal experience and I'm so thankful I don't have to jump in the shower every morning, rush to get dressed, and race out the door to a job that makes me miserable.

Been there. Done that.

So what's stopping YOU from living the ultimate writer's life?

My guess is, you really don't know how to get started - OR - if you have gotten started, only to encounter a few road blocks along the way, you don't know what to do next to get back on track.

You can't figure out how to find the top paying assignments that will let you live the writer's life of your dreams.

You don't know how to write winning query letters and cover letters that will land you top paying assignments.

You don't know how to create a focus for your writing, or how to start developing an online presence that will get your name known among editors and publishers you wish to write for.

Well, that's where I come in.

I teach many people HOW to write. But I also coach people to the freelance writing career of their dreams through my Working Writer's Coaching Program.

I help each writer who joins my program develop a unique blueprint for a writing career based on his or her individual experience, talents, and interests.

I've coached medical writers, business writers, educational writers, copywriters, and children's writers. My program works for all kinds of writers who want to make freelance writing a part time or full time career.

The Working Writer's Coaching Program is an intensive 8-week program, where you and I will work together to create the writing career you have always dreamed of. We'll talk by telephone each week during the 8 weeks - either twice a week for 30 minutes at a time, or once a week for a full hour.

When I decided to become a full time freelance writer many years ago, within three months I was earning $6,000 a month following the same steps I'll show you how to take in the Working Writer's Coaching Program.

These steps worked for me. I know they will work for you, too.

So what are you waiting for?

Let's get started today!

Get Ready to Make Some Money in 2007!

Do you want to make money with your freelance writing in 2007?

Then you MUST learn to effectively market your products and services.

Join me tonight for Writers on Call, a weekly group coaching teleclass for freelance writers.

396185_money_money_money

We’ll be talking about yearly marketing plans, monthly marketing plans, as well as weekly marketing plans.

Sign up here.

This is the form we’ll use tonight to develop a weekly marketing plan:

Weekly Marketing Plan

Your weekly marketing plan should consist of a list of the following:

1. Contacts - These are the people you plan to call or email during the week. This may include an editor you wish to query, or one you need to follow up with about an assignment or contract, or it could be an editor who requested a resume and writing samples and you need to get them out to that editor this week.

2. Job Boards or other job listings - These are sites you plan to view to see if there are any new job listings that interest you. If you know certain web sites post new jobs for writers on Tuesday, then put that down on your plan for Tuesday. If you don’t have a list of online job boards, then plan to spend an hour or so in the coming week searching for some. Also, sign up for ezines for writers (that include job ads) if you don’t already subscribe to at least a few.

3. Promotional activities - You must constantly promote yourself and your writing in order to be a working writer. If you have a web site or blog, updating it each week is part of this promotion. If you don’t have a web site or blog to promote your writing, then you need to create one, so “start on website” or “create blog” would go in this category of your marketing plan.

Writing press releases about your business or for a new book you have coming out, or getting contracts to schools or other organizations that want to book you as a speaker, are other activities that come under this category. Writing free articles for article directories might also be included here since these articles will help promote you and your writing services.

4. Networking activities - This category is a bit different from contacts or promotional activities. If you belong to any community organizations, or groups for writers, jot down how you plan on using these groups for networking this week. You might plan to join a listserv for writers and then introduce yourself to everyone on the list this week, or you might want to attend your local business association meeting to let other business owners in your area know about your writing services. Just make sure you have at least a few plans for networking with other writers and/or businesses each week.

Join us tonight and get your marketing (and your freelance writing career) off to a booming start in 2007!

Books to Enjoy Over and Over Again…

Do you have certain, special books that you read over and over again?

I do.

0385480016

Every year at Thanksgiving I reread Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott.

Then, every year, right after Christmas, I reread Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnach.

simpleabsomething

After I finish that, I reread Something More - also written by Sarah Ban Breathnach.

The first year I read Something More I was so impressed with the references to OTHER books that are made in this book, that I wrote down the names of all those other books.

I found as many of them as I could at the library.

And then I read each and every one of them.

They were all delightful - just as I knew they would be.

I love it when I find books that are such treasures I want to reread them every year.

Don’t you?

Do you have any titles to share?

I’d love to find other books that I haven’t read and add them to my yearly list.

Happy reading!

Merry Christmas!

677036_regali_2 It’s a beautiful, sunny Christmas Day - outside!

Inside - my husband and I are both sick with the flu.

Ugh….I’ve blown my nose and coughed so many times my ribs ache and my husband has nicknamed me Rudolph.

Needless to say, this is not the most cheerful and exciting Christmas we have ever had.

We had to miss a delicious holiday dinner with friends, yet I’d say we’re both in pretty good spirits.

We have many things to be thankful for, and I’m sure we’ll both feel much better in another day or two.

Anyway…here’s the link to another gift for you. This one is from writer Yvonne Perry.

Get Paid to be Published in 2007!

Hello, fellow writers, and happy holidays!

Here’s a nice gift from writer and book-publishing coach, Diane Eble.

It’s a recording of a session Diane and I did together for my freelance writing class at the University of Masters.

eble.diane.jpg
Your Book-Publishing Coach, Diane Eble

Here’s what Diane says:

I have a gift for you. (What is Christmas without gifts?)

If you have ever contemplated getting paid to publish your book
or article, you will want to check out this gift right away.

It’s a recording of a class that Suzanne Lieurance and I did on
writing queries and book proposals, for the University of Masters
online university.

If you want to get paid for your writing, you need to convince an
editor that your article or book idea is worthy of being
published in their magazine or by publishing company.

How do you do that? By writing a knock-out query (for magazines)
or book proposal.

Writing for pay is not the only way to go, but it’s the best way.
Not only for the obvious reason (you get paid!).

Getting published anywhere helps establish your credibility, but
getting published in a magazine that pays its writers catapaults
you up the ladder of expertise.

Likewise, having a published book lends you a lot of
credibility. But being published by a traditional publisher, as
opposed to self-publishing, opens many more doors. The media are
much more likely to go with someone published by a publisher who
took all the risk.

Believe me, the media can tell the difference at a glance.

Writing a killer query or book proposal is an art, but it’s one
that can be learned if you have the right guide.

Suzanne Lieurance is widely known as “the working writer’s
coach.” A successful author herself, she specializes in helping
people make the transition to full-time freelance writer (who of
course, gets paid!).

As you know, I help individuals and companies become the leading
experts in their fields through publishing books and other
information products.

In this recording of the class Suzanne and I did, you will learn
exactly how to write powerful queries and book proposals that
will get you published. You will learn the proprietary book
proposal outline I used to sell every book I ever proposed (11 in
all, plus a book I resold despite three agents telling me
“nobody’s buying reprints.” I got two publisher offers for that
book–Abundant Gifts).

To access this recording, go here.

It’s my gift to you, with the heartfelt wish that your holidays,
and the year ahead, will be full of many abundant blessings.

And may one of them be a contract for your upcoming book!

Warmly,

Diane

P.S. Note that this is a limited time offer, so please don’t
wait. You can download it now and listen at your leisure.
I’d hate to have you miss out on this rare offer.

Abundant Gifts

abundantcover3

The other day I was telling a friend how worried I am because I’m so happy.

Isn’t that weird?

But I meant it.

Lately I’ve been having little “happy attacks” several times a day.

I’ll be walking my dogs in the park and suddenly realize what a beautiful day it is, and how blissfully happy I am just to be alive in that moment, in that space, with my dogs.

Or, I’ll be at home, taking a break from writing and decide, “I’m going to make myself a cup of peppermint tea,” and just the thought of it will make me smile with pleasure and anticipation.

Okay.

I know what YOU’RE probably thinking right now.

Suzanne is a little strange.

But actually, when I stop to consider WHY I’ve had so many of these recent “happy attacks,” I realize that they have been taking place because of some decisions I made earlier in the year to simplify my life and my work.

So, in a sense, I’ve opened up some space in my life for happiness to come in.

And it has.

Before I made these decisions, I was so swamped with work and other projects that I would feel guilty if I took the time to vacuum my house or shop for groceries.

When I was doing those types of things I kept thinking, “I should be writing.”

Then one day I just decided, “This is nuts! I’ve got to start working smarter, not harder.”

So I did.

And now I actually have time and space in my life to enjoy life’s little pleasures.

Which brings me round to a wonderful new book I’m currently reading (and NOT feeling guilty that I’m taking the time to read it).

It’s called Abundant Gifts by Diane Eble, and she calls it “a daybook of grace-filled devotions.”

You can find out more about this beautiful book (and even order a copy for yourself) here.

It would also make a wonderful holiday gift for someone special on your list.

Our daily lives really are full of abundant gifts - if we just make time and space in each day to receive them.

Today I’m going to take some time to enjoy reading more of Abundant Gifts.

Hmmm…I think I’ll make a cup of peppermint tea to sip as I read.

Oh, gosh, I feel another “happy attack”coming on…

Have a wonderful writing day!

If you have any little “happy attacks” during the day, email me and let me know.
